There are rumors around the Hollywood scene that Mickey Rourke has recently opted for cosmetic surgery to counteract the wear and tear to his face caused by years of hard living and a brief boxing career.
While Rourke has not confirmed the rumors himself, he hasn’t denied them either: “I went to a certain kind of doctor. I believed it would make things different.” It is uncertain what type of facial cosmetic surgery procedure the actor opted for. Did he have a facelift? Did he get BOTOX® injections? Speculation is rampant among the paparazzi. Perhaps one day Rourke will come clean about his cosmetic surgery procedure.
Rourke has starred in many major films over the last 20-30 years. Some of his major roles include Barfly and Sin City. He is currently working on the sequel to Sin City. Rourke took a five year hiatus from acting to pursue a boxing career. This is most likely where he sustained most of the damage to his face.
Considering the condition of his face when photographed recently at the Venice Film Festival premiere of his new movie, his choice of surgeons seems questionable. He should have been a little more selective and found a highly-qualified board-certified plastic surgeon.
