Theresa Gretencord, a 45-year-old nurse in Overland Park, Kansas, elected to shrink her mass down in 1994. She underwent a dramatic change, from 350 pounds obese to the more modern skinny beauty with surgical gastric bypass. In Stilwell, Laura Brown did the same. At 28 years old, he had been 270 pounds at 5 feet 7 inches. The weight loss was a dramatic and wonderful change for both women – Gretencord losing 165 pounds while Brown lost 120 – but both ladies were in for a shock when they saw their own skin folded over itself in numerous places. Luckily for both these women, there is a cosmetic procedure that solved their dilemma.
Body contouring saved them from losing their newly gained curvaceousness to the embarassment of having pug-like folds. Body contouring is essentially the removal of excess skin, resulting in a series of lifts at the areas of need. Even women suffering from natural dramatic weightloss can undergo this procedure with fabulous results! Of the 106,000 body contouring surgeries in 2004, 56,000 were due to dramatic weight loss. However, not all weight loss situations call for body contouring. For any such procedure, it is best to consult a local plastic surgeon to find the best procedure for you.
