They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery. If that is true, then the first ruler in North Korea’s Kim dynasty, Kim Il-Sung, must be smiling in his grave at this very moment. His grandson and heir apparent to the North Korean dictatorship, Kim Jong-un, has recently undergone plastic surgery to look like the old man.
The 27-year-old Kim Jong-un made sure that all the minor details were attended to, down to his grandfather’s chubby cheeks and double chin. I’m assuming that means cheek implants and chin implants were involved in this dramatic makeover. He even got a hair cut that resembled the one his grandfather wore years ago, even though the style is decidedly 1950s.
A Korean newspaper has speculated that Kim Jong-un made this bold move to boost his standing with the Korean public and cement his position as the next ruler of North Korea. After all, nothing makes you more qualified to run a country than looking like a former leader, right? You can see the resemblance between George Bush Sr. and George W. Bush, and that spoke volumes about the latter’s qualifications. He ran our country into the ground just like has daddy did. He even bombed the same countries.
Perhaps we should just check the history books to see what kind of leader Kim Jong-un will be.
