The decision to get breast implants is a highly personal one. Many women experience improved self-esteem and feel more attractive as a result of their implant surgery. However, if you are going to get breast implants, it should be because you want them for yourself, not because your boyfriend or husband wants you to get them.
It is equally important to pay for your breast augmentation yourself. Since this is a deeply personal decision and you are inserting something into your body that will remain with you for the rest of your life, you may as well come up with the funding for them so that you can definitively “own” them.
While there are obvious psychological advantages to retaining complete control over this procedure, there is also another very compelling reason to talk your boyfriend or husband out of getting you your implants as a gift. You never know when your relationship will turn sour, and if it does, you may not have any idea what your ex will be capable of doing while in a fit of rage.
A California man is currently on trial for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and several other charges for trying to take back his ex-girlfriend’s breast implants. The deranged man had paid for his ex-girlfriend’s implants while they were dating, and in an attempt to reclaim what he believed was rightfully his, he stabbed her six times to cut the implants out of her body.
Had the woman paid for her breast augmentation with her own money, this tragic and unfortunate incident would have never occurred. Fortunately, the woman recovered from her stab wounds and her cosmetic surgeon was able to repair the damage done to her lovely new breasts, which most likely will never be handled by her psychotic ex-boyfriend again.
