Better health is a positive movement in present America, with over 60% of the nation classified as overweight in 2002 and innovative diet theories on the rise. In an attempt to lose weight and stay fit, many people are turning to artificial sweetners as a way to lose weight by not using sugar. Problems are emerging from their use, however, as studies find that the use of artificial sweetners can complicate a diet rather than keep a regular weight loss.
No matter how an artifical sweetner is developed, the fact remains that real sugar tastes better and is more substantial than the sugar-less alternative. People concerned with sugar intake as a means of losing weight generally gain more weight by trying to use nothing but artifical sweetner because the sugar-less foods leave them unsatisfied. In the best-selling book, French Women Don’t Get Fat, the use of small portions of “real food” (versus processed) is highlighted as key in controlling weight by satiating hunger.
However, just switching sugars isn’t always enough. Some women cannot help their weight by dieting alone, or can’t afford to wait for the effects of a new diet to kick in. Liposuction and abdominoplasty are becoming more acceptable ways of removing excess fat cleanly and quickly.
