Mentor Corporation promotes its cosmetic breast implants through its LoveYourLook.com website. It most prominently promotes its MemoryGel silicone breast implants, which come in three model series corresponding to what it describes as moderate profile, moderate plus profile, and high profile. Currently, Mentor offers only round silicone gel implants.
Memory Gel Implants
MemoryGel Moderate Profile Model Numbers 350-7v
This is a model of MemoryGel implant with a smooth surface. Its size runs form 100 to 800 cc. The 7125 model has a diameter of 10.0 cm and a projection of 2.2 cm.
| MemoryGel Moderate Plus Profile Model Numbers 350-v1 This is a model of MemoryGel implant with a smooth surface. It comes in sizes from 100 cc to 800 cc. The 1251 model has a diameter of 8.9 cm and a projection of 2.8 cm, giving it considerably (30%) more projection per volume with significant (11%) decrease in diameter. MemoryGel High Profile Model Numbers 350-v4 These MemoryGel implants have a smooth surface and come in sizes from 125-800 cc. The 1254 model has a diameter of only 8.3 cm, but a projection of 3.5 cm. The high profile implant therefore has a 65% increase in projection over the moderate implant, and a decrease in diameter of almost 20% for the same volume. |  |
Siltex Round Gel Moderate Profile Model Numbers 354-v7
Siltex is the trade name Mentor gave to its textured implants, and can include round and teardrop shapes, both silicone and saline implants. The texturing of the implant comes with an increase in the profile of the implant, so that even the moderate implant has considerably more projection per volume than the smooth implant. The 1257 model has a diameter of 9.3 cm and a projection of 2.8 cm, approximately equivalent to the moderate plus profile in the smooth gel implants. These implants are available in sizes from 100 to 800 cc.
Siltex Round Gel Moderate Plus Profile Model Numbers 354-v1
Because the textured implants already represent a significant increase in profile over the smooth implants, the moderate plus profile does not represent a significant increase in size over the textured moderate profile. The 1251 model has a diameter of 8.8 cm and a projection of 2.9 cm. These implants are available in sizes from 100 to 800 cc.
Siltex Round Gel High Profile Model Numbers 354-4v
These textured implants give the highest profile of any Mentor round implant. The 4125 model has a diameter of 8.4 cm and a projection of 3.6 cm, slightly greater projection per volume than the smooth implant model 1254. These implants are available in sizes from 125 cc to 800 cc.
Saline Implants
Saline implants have much more variety in their fill levels, and can have different properties depending on whether they are partly full, completely full, or overfull. Generally, saline implants are implanted with a very low fill level, making it possible for them to be inserted via a TUBA or transaxillary incision in an endoscopic surgery procedure.
Contour Profile Moderate Model Numbers 354-2910 to 2915
This is Mentor’s “elliptical” shaped implant, designed to give the appearance of the “mature breast” with moderate profile. As a shaped implant, it comes with a textured surface. It is also saline-filled and comes in volumes from 175 cc to 525 cc, although the implants can be filled to a range of volumes, from 175-200 cc for the smallest model and 525-575 cc for the largest model. The 275 cc model has dimensions of 12.2 cm by 10.3 cm by 4.5 cm.
Contour Profile High Breast Implant Model Numbers 354-2711 to 2715
This is Mentor’s higher profile elliptical implant. It is also saline filled and textured. It comes in sizes ranging from 275 cc to 650 cc. The fill range for the smaller sizes is 25 cc, while the largest ones have a fill range of 75 cc. The model 2711, with a volume of 275 cc, has dimensions of 11.5 cm by 9.5 cm by 5.1 cm.
Saline Smooth Round Moderate Profile Implant Model Numbers 350-1610 to 1697
These are Mentor’s moderate profile saline implants. They have smooth surfaces and come in a size range from 125 cc to 700 cc. The smallest ones have a fill range of 25 cc and the largest ones have a fill range of 75 cc. Because the fill ranges vary between model numbers, it is impossible to get a direct comparison of the moderate, moderate plus, and high profile implants. However, the closest levels seem to be achieved at approximate the 200 cc level. The moderate implant, model number 1625, with a maximum fill of 225 cc has a diameter of 11.0 cm and a projection of 3.4 cm.
Saline Smooth Round Moderate Plus Profile Implant Model Numbers 350-2v
These smooth, round implants come in sizes from 175 cc to 800cc, with the largest implants having a fill range of 160 cc. Model number 2200 at 240 cc has a diameter of 9.7 cm and a projection of 4.4 cm.
Saline Smooth Round High Profile Implant Model Numbers 350-3v
These implants are available in sizes from 170 cc to 630 cc, which can actually be filled up to 750 cc. The 3190 model, with a nominal fill level of 190 cc can be filled up to 225 cc and has at this fill level a diameter of 9.1 cm and a projection of 5.1 cm.
Siltex Saline Round Moderate Profile Model Numbers 354-2610 to 2680
This is Mentor’s textured round saline implant series. It has a moderate profile and is available in sizes from 125cc to 475 cc. In contrast to the MemoryGel implants, the textured saline implants do not seem to have any increase in profile over the smooth implants. Thus, volume for volume they are the same dimension as the model numbers 1610-1680.
Adjustable Saline Implants
Spectrum Smooth Round Model Numbers 350-1410 to 1490
Spectrum is the trade name Mentor gave its postoperatively adjustable implants. These implants are designed to be adjusted to their final fill after they have been implanted, allowing the breast augmentation patient to achieve optimal satisfaction following their breast augmentation surgery. Typically, these smooth implants have the same fill range as their non-adjustable counterparts, so that a 125 cc implant (the smallest) can be filled up to 150 cc, while a 575 cc implant (the largest) can be filled up to 690 cc. They have a profile close to that of the 1600 series.
Siltex Round Spectrum Model Numbers 354-2410 to 2480
These Spectrum implants come in sizes ranging from 125 cc to 475 cc. They have textured shells, and have approximately the same fill range as other saline implants. They have approximately the same profile as the 1600 series.
Siltex Contour Profile Spectrum Model Numbers 354-2511 to 2515
These elliptical adjustable implants come in sizes ranging from 275 cc to 650 cc nominal volume. They are high profile implants and at minimum fill have the same dimensions as the high profile elliptical implant 2700 series.
